General Summary:
The Application Engineering Supervisor is responsible for the oversight of the Application Engineering department as well as overseeing standardized procedures, methods, and processes for estimating deliverables. The Application Engineering Supervisor is also responsible for managing the Application Engineering team’s daily activities and ensuring accurate and timely delivery of estimates to customers.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Supervise the Application Engineering team and daily activities of the department.
  • Responsible for training of Application Engineering department staff.
  • Review, provide feedback and evaluate performance of Application Engineering team.
  • Responsible for deployment of standard practices, procedures and templates that will result in consistent, reproducible, scalable methodology to drive the Application Engineering department.
  • Provide estimating support to ensure quality and timeliness of output.
  • Produces monthly reports on performance of the department, along with individual Application Engineers outputs within the department.
  • Coordinate with other managers to ensure schedules are met and projects are completed on time.
  • Interprets engineering drawings and blueprints to ensure work requirements are understood.
  • Reviews bids from vendors or contractors to ensure they are fair and reasonable.
  • Manages estimating workload and ensure estimating needs are met.
  • Determine and define project scope and objectives.
  • Create estimates for jobs and projects.
  • Enter customer orders and ensure all purchase order requirements are adhered to.
  • Ensure effective communication of order status to customers and sales team.
  • Development into Subject-Matter-Expert of all engineered rubber and plastics product lines and product nomenclature.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required (rubber & plastic injection technology preferred).
  • Customer oriented and ability to adapt to different types of personalities.
  • Must be detail oriented and technically sound with good communication skills.
  • Ability to work on a team or work independently with little or no supervision.
  • Intermediate PC/MS Office skills.
  • Ability to problem solve and multi-task efficiently.
  • Excellent customer service attributes.
  • Ability to work extended hours as needed to meet departmental and customer needs.
  • Organizational skills required to prioritize, plan and coordinate work activities and resources.
  • Working knowledge of computer design tools (i.e. Auto-CAD, Automation Studio, etc.).
  • Ability to read blueprints, CAD files and STEP files, and basic understanding of tolerancing.
  • Ability to create CAD and STEP files.
  • Experience in Rubber, Polyurethane, and machining preferred but not required.
  • Basic understanding of GD&T.
Working Conditions:
  • Normal office environment with regular (up to 100% of work time) exposure to noise, dust, office equipment and supplies.
  • Physical dexterity needed to bend, stretch, lift and reach.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extensive periods throughout the day.
  • Ability to perform basic office tasks using standard office equipment.
  • Ability to perform customer / vendor visits as required.
