General Summary:
Responsible to technically support field sales by quoting, designing and facilitating the build of Hydraulic, Pneumatic and Lubrication assemblies and systems.  Prepare detailed proposals per customer requirements for custom automation system solutions.  Finalize bills of materials, schematics, layout drawings and other documentation to support system solution sales.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Apply engineering principles to document or modify fluid power schematics and layout drawings for various machines, equipment, or processes.
  • Lead and conduct reviews of engineering proposals in order to detail fluid power designs for hydraulic, pneumatic, and lubrication components, equipment and subsystems.
  • Prepare product or system layouts, detailed drawings and schematics.
  • Analyze product or equipment specifications and performance requirements to verify designs.
  • Development of engineering proposal documentation as required.
  • Document all “as-built” shop mark-ups from product assembly.
  • Ensure all electronic job folder documentation is complete upon job close-out.
  • Enhance profit through continuous productivity, throughput, customer service, quality and cost reduction.
  • Check designs for errors and recommend improvements.
  • Document complete project bill of materials.
  • Leads manufacturing with system builds; Supports start-up and test of systems.
  • Responsible for making inventory recommendations.
  • Promote positive vendor relationships.
Supplemental Job Functions:
  • Support for field applications, system designs and customer product developments/enhancements.
  • Conduct customer visits to support field sales.
  • Identify key competitors/competitive products and provide feedback to engineering and field sales.
  • Train sales staff at all levels for product expertise.
  • Provides and supports a positive work environment.
  • Responsible for profitability of company and attaining goals and objectives set forth by the Board of Directors.
  • Participates in corporate on-boarding and orientation programs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technically related area of responsibility (will consider equivalent work experience).
  • Five (5) years’ experience detailing mechanical layouts and schematics for hydraulic, pneumatic & lubrication systems.
  • Proficient with MS Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Extensive knowledge of computer-assisted engineering software and equipment (AutoCAD, Inventor, etc.).
  • Previous fluid power experience and a demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
  • Basic understanding of inventory control procedures.
  • Organizational skills required to prioritize, plan and coordinate work activities and resources in area of responsibility.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate with associates, customers, business partners and management team members.
  • Demonstrated teamwork approach with superiors, peers and subordinates utilizing skills in oral communication, active listening, written and oral directions and cooperating with and assisting others when needed.
Working Conditions:
  • Normal business office environment with regular (up to 100% of work time) exposure to noise, dust, office equipment and supplies. 
  • Physical dexterity needed to bend, stretch, lift and reach.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extensive periods throughout the day.
  • Ability to perform basic office tasks using standard office equipment.
  • Ability to use a keyboard and computer.
